Welcome

The Lake Havasu Gem & Mineral Society of Lake Havasu City, Arizona is a non-profit organization, dedicated to educating our members and the community about gems, minerals, and fossils. Our objective and purpose are to:

  • Increase our appreciation of the beauty and value of the land in which we live.
  • Foster good fellowship among our members while pursuing the club's activities.
  • Foster knowledge of the earth sciences.
  • Provide educational scholarships in scientific fields.
  • To procure and improve club equipment.

Monthly meetings are held the second Friday of the month, excluding June, July, and August. Meetings are held at the:

Mount Olive Lutheran Church Parish Center
2170 Havasupai Blvd.
Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403


(Meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. with visiting starting at 6:30 p.m.)

Visitors are always welcome at our meetings.

The Parish Center can be found towards the rear of the parking lot behind the Lutheran Church.

Membership

Membership is open to anyone 18 years old or older that is residing full or part-time in Lake Havasu City or surrounding areas. Children of members, who are 12 years old or older, may join as Junior Members.

Application for Membership:

Application shall be made by completeing an application appoved by they board and submitting it to the membership chairperson, with badge fees and dues. The membership chairperson shall review the application with the membership committee and present it to the board at the next board meeting. At the following regular meeting, the membership chairperson shall introduce all new members to the Society.
  1. The membership chairperson shall then present the new members with copies of the by-laws and standing rules.
  2. The membership chairperson shall also present the new members with their membership caards, badges, and membership lists.
Membership Rates Are:
One time or replacement badge costs - $8.00
Single membership costs - $16.00
Family sponsored Junior membership costs - $8.00
Family membership costs - $16.00 for the first member,
and $8.00 for each member thereafter with a maximum of $25.00.

What you get with you membership:

  • Membership in the Rocky Mountain and American Federation of Mineralogical Societies.
  • Monthly meetings with interesting programs and speakers.
  • Participation in club functions and field trips.
  • Competition in our annual show.
  • Monthly subscription to our newsletter the "Rocky Tales."
  • Membership card, name badge, and copy of the club by-laws.

Membership applications can be obtained at our Club Meetings or Annual Show through our Membership Chairperson.

At present we do not make our membership applications available on-line. We prefer that our prospective members attend a couple of our meetings and/or field trips before deciding whether or not they want to join our club.

The Lake Havasu Gem & Mineral Society is like any other organization. You only get OUT of it what you are prepared to put INTO it. Attending meetings and social events is worthwhile. Your help in any way is always appreciated.
